Destin’s Rookie Year
When I started thinking about our nephew turning one, I knew I wanted to do a big party - of course with the OK from his parents! If there’s one thing to know about my husbands’ side of the family, it’s that they are a baseball family through & through. My father-in-law played in the minors & now has a pitching mound in their backyard where he gives private lessons. My husband & brother-in-law played competitive baseball growing up and watching the Padre game is a part of our nightly routine.
Thankfully for me, I grew up watching the Padres pretty religiously too. I remember checking the newspaper each morning to see the NL standings & turning on the game every night with my dad and grandma.
With all that in mind, I thought what better first birthday theme than Rookie Year? When planning a party, going with something you know can make it so much easier! I knew the details would make all the difference and make it that much more personal. The “can of corn” stickers on the popcorn boxes, the Major League Birthday decals on the kids chairs & the customized hot dog names were just a few of my favorite details.
I hope this brings you inspiration for any baseball themed celebration. It would be so easy to update this with any teams colors, logos & mascots!
